How much does it cost to change brake pads?

On average, a professional will charge about $150 per axle to change your brake pads. We highly recommend having a professional install your brake pads, as it's a critical function. A professional can also identify any other issues, such as if you also need to replace your brake rotors.

We are more than happy to ship your brake pads directly to your favorite auto body shop - you only need to list their address as the shipping address when checking out.

How often should I replace my brake pads?

This is highly variable, but generally speaking, brake pads will need to be replaced every 30,000 - 70,000 miles.

There are many factors that go into this, such as how heavy-footed your driving is, how much urban vs highway driving you do, etc. New electric vehicles use regenerative braking, and may never need a brake pad change.

If you are not sure if your brake pads need replacing, we highly recommend having a professional auto body shop evaluate your brake pads and make that determination for you.

What are signs that I need a brake pad change?

If your brake pads are thin, this is a sure-tell sign that you need a brake pad change. A professional can help evaluate your brake pads and determine if they are thin and require changing.

More outward signs are squealing, or jittery braking. If your car is making funny noises when you brake, then it's time to take it to a professional for an evaluation. They will determine if you need new brake pads, or new brake pads + rotors.

We are more than happy to ship your new brake pads directly to your body shop - just list them as the shipping address when checking out.

How fast can I get my brake pads?

We understand that brake pads are a critical function of your vehicle.

We keep our inventory updated every day. If you see your brake pad as orderable and in stock, that means it actually is! We do not sell backordered or out of stock brake pads. All brake pad orders ship the same business days, and most are delivered in 2-3 business days.

We want to help you get your new brake pads delivered as soon as possible, and we'll do everything we can to make that happen.

Can I replace my own brake pads?

It is definitely possible to replace your own brake pads, but be aware of what you're getting into first! Not only will you need a jack and jack stands, you will also need to be well aware of how to use them safely. You'll also need a number of tools to get the job done.

If you haven't already done it yet, we'd recommend checking YouTube for some videos that will help walk you through the process.

If you already have the tools, and are comfortable doing it yourself, you can save yourself a few hundred dollars. If you don't have the tools, and have never changed a pair yourself, you may end up costing yourself more in tool costs, and time spent.

Most people choose to have a professional install them. The cost for a professional is normally around $150 per axel. We always recommend having a professional install your brake pads.
