What is a relay?

A relay is an electrically operated switch. It is used to control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or to isolate two parts of a circuit from each other.

What is the purpose of a relay in a brake system?

A relay in a brake system is used to control the power going to the brake lights, allowing the driver to know when the brakes are engaged. It can also help prevent overheating of the brake system by isolating it from the rest of the electrical system.

How can I determine if my brake relay is faulty?

There are several warning signs that can indicate a faulty brake relay. These include the brake lights not illuminating when the brake pedal is pressed, a buzzing or clicking sound coming from the relay when the brakes are engaged, and the brakes not releasing when the brake pedal is released.

Can a faulty brake relay cause damage?

Yes, a faulty brake relay can cause damage to the brake system if it is not replaced. Without the relay, the brake lights may not work properly and the brakes may not release properly, resulting in possible damage to the brake system components.
