Do Bushwacker fender flares require drilling?

Most Bushwacker fender flare installations do not require drilling, but some do. Each of our product pages has a link to the set of installation instructions, so you can find the installation requirements for your exact set.

Where possible, Bushwacker uses the factory mount point locations to install the flares. In most cases, these factory mount point locations, and some included 3M automotive adhesive, is all that's needed for installation. In a few cases, drilling or self tapping screws will be required to install your fender flares.

Note: if you are trying to cover rust, you may need to do some drilling even if you order a no-drill flare set. This will be the case if the rust affects the mount point locations making them unusable.

How wide are Bushwacker fender flares?

Each set is completely different, and depends on what you drive. The width - or tire coverage - of the Bushwacker flares ranges from 3/4" - 9". The larger 9" width flares are the large Jeep flat style flares, while the smaller ones will be thinner OE style sets.

If you're looking for the widest flare for your truck, this is the easiest way:
1) Use the filters above to select the year/make/model of your truck
2) Under the Tire Coverage filter, select the your desired coverage

The search results will then show you exactly what sets are available for your truck in your desired width.

Can you remove Bushwacker fender flares?

If your flares required drilling to install, keep in mind you'll be left with the drill points.
We do not recommend removing Cut-Out fender flares, as these typically require cutting of parts of your sheet metal.

Most flares install using factory mount point locations and adhesive tape. These will be easier to uninstall, but will take extra care not to mess up your paint. We recommend a paint-safe adhesive remover to assist with removing the adhesive tape. Always work slow and methodically, taking great care to preserve your paint.

Keep in mind, depending on how long you have had your flares installed, your paint underneath may looked newer than the rest of your vehicle. This is because the flares will protect the paint underneath from the sun. There may also be some accumulated mud underneath that you will need to scrub off.

Bushwacker fender flares add a unique accent to your truck or SUV. The flares are not just for looks, these products are also very functional.
