What is an exhaust mount?

An exhaust mount is a component that attaches the exhaust system to the vehicle body or chassis. It is used to reduce vibration and noise.

What are the signs of a faulty exhaust mount?

Signs of a faulty exhaust mount include: increased engine vibration, louder exhaust noise, and rattling or metal-on-metal sounds coming from the exhaust.

Can a faulty exhaust mount cause damage?

Yes, if the exhaust mount becomes too loose it can cause damage to the exhaust system, the vehicle body, or other surrounding components.

How do you replace an exhaust mount?

1) Place a jack under the vehicle's exhaust system and lift it up slightly to take the weight off the mount.
2) Remove the bolts that attach the mount to the vehicle’s frame.
3) Replace the old mount with a new one.
4) Reattach the new mount with the same bolts and torque them to the correct specification.
5) Lower the exhaust system back onto the mount.

How often should you inspect an exhaust mount?

It is recommended to inspect an exhaust mount at least once a year, or whenever any exhaust system repairs are being done.
