The purpose of an ignition switch is to provide power to the starter motor when the driver turns the key, allowing the engine to start.

How can I tell if my ignition switch is faulty?

You may notice that your vehicle is having difficulty starting, or that the starter motor is not engaging when the key is turned. It is also possible that the dashboard lights may flicker or the radio may not power on when the key is turned.

Can a faulty ignition switch cause damage to my vehicle?

Yes, a faulty ignition switch can cause damage to your vehicle. If the switch fails to provide power to the starter motor, the starter motor will not engage and can cause damage to the engine.

How do I replace an ignition switch?

1) Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2) Remove the screws or other fasteners that hold the switch in place.
3) Remove the wiring harness from the back of the switch.
4) Install the new ignition switch and secure it into place using the screws.
5) Reconnect the wiring harness to the back of the switch.
6) Reconnect the negative battery cable.

How often should I inspect my ignition switch?

It is recommended that you inspect your ignition switch at least once a year, or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.
