  • Gear oil

  • Marking compound


  1. Jack up the vehicle and secure it with the jack stands.
  2. Remove the wheel and tire on the side of the differential.
  3. Drain the fluid from the differential.
  4. Remove the differential cover.
  5. Remove the ring gear from the differential.
  6. Mark the orientation of the pinion gear and the ring gear with a marking compound.
  7. Remove the pinion gear and the old ring gear.
  8. Install the new ring gear and pinion gear and ensure that they are lined up with the markings.
  9. Install the differential cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  10. Add the gear oil and torque the fill plug.
  11. Reinstall the wheel and tire.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
