  2. Remove the tailgate handle to access the Tailgate Release Cable.
  3. Disconnect the Tailgate Release Cable from the tailgate handle and latch.
  4. Install the new Tailgate Release Cable and connect it to the tailgate handle and latch.
  5. Re-install the tailgate handle and reconnect the negative battery cable.
