Detailed Description

AP Exhaust 645364 is engineered as a direct replacement catalytic converter for select Volkswagen compact models. The ARISTO substrate chemistry is used to support efficient catalyst loading, while AP Emissions Technologies’ automated manufacturing and spinner-welded construction help maintain OE-style dimensions and fitment. The result is a replacement converter built around the original exhaust layout for the Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Golf, and Volkswagen Jetta.

This part number, 645364, is listed for 1998-2001 Volkswagen Beetle, 1999-2001 Volkswagen Golf, and 1999-2001 Volkswagen Jetta applications, with notes for AEG engine and Federal/California emissions configurations where specified. This part cross-references Walker (e.g., 16464) for the same application.

What It Helps Address

Failed catalytic converter efficiency codes
Restricted exhaust flow from a damaged substrate
Rattling or broken internal converter material
Exhaust leaks at the converter connection points
Emissions test failures on listed Volkswagen applications

Installation Notes and Tips

Verify the vehicle’s engine code, emissions configuration, and sensor-port layout before installation. This converter uses a 6-bolt welded flange inlet and a 2.16" OD pipe outlet, so matching the existing exhaust connection points is important for proper fitment. Confirm the listed application notes for your Volkswagen Beetle, Golf, or Jetta before ordering.

Quality Assurance

AP Exhaust builds this converter to OE dimensions using controlled manufacturing processes and stainless steel construction for consistent fitment and durability. The ceramic substrate and direct-fit design support a straightforward replacement on the listed applications.
