Detailed Description

Bendix Premium Brake Shoes Part Number 473 is a rear drum brake shoe solution for a wide range of Chevrolet and GMC applications, including Chevrolet Express 1500, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Savana 1500, and GMC Yukon. The friction material is copper-free and built to deliver braking characteristics that align with OEM expectations while supporting modern environmental requirements. OE match levers help maintain correct shoe operation, and the adhesive system is engineered for secure material retention during service.

This part cross-references Monroe Shocks & Struts (e.g., 172286, 182286) for the same application.

What It Helps Address

• Rear brake shoe wear that reduces stopping performance
• Brake noise caused by worn or uneven drum shoe material
• Reduced pedal response from aged rear drum components
• Service needs on GM rear drum brake systems with 11-inch or 11.16-inch drum dimensions
• Replacement needs on vehicles such as Chevrolet C1500, GMC K1500, and Cadillac Escalade rear brake applications

Installation Notes and Fitment Tips

Verify rear drum size and brake configuration before ordering. This part fits 1996-2002 Chevrolet Express 1500, rear; 1996-2002 GMC Savana 2500, rear; 1995-2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, rear; 1992-2000 GMC Yukon, rear; 1992-1999 Chevrolet C1500, rear; 1987-1991 Chevrolet Blazer, rear; and additional listed applications. Some fitments note specific brake dimensions, GVW ratings, or exclusions such as 13-inch rear brakes, so match the notes to the vehicle exactly.

Inspect drums, return springs, adjusters, and related hardware during service. Confirm lever style and brake shoe dimensions on the vehicle before installation, especially on older Chevrolet and GMC rear drum brake systems.
