Detailed Product Overview

The Bendix Friction SK637 is a drum brake shoe kit engineered for rear brake service on Saturn vehicles equipped with 7.87" x 1.24" rear drum brakes. It is listed for 1991-2002 Saturn SL, SL1, SL2, 1991-1992 Saturn SC, 1993-2002 Saturn SC1, SC2, 1993-1999 Saturn SW1, and 1993-2001 Saturn SW2. For buyers searching for a rear drum brake shoe kit for Saturn SL2 or a Bendix SK637 brake shoe kit for Saturn SC1 rear brakes, this part matches those applications directly.

The Bendix Brake Shoe Kit product line is focused on simplifying brake service by consolidating the needed brake shoe components into a single application-specific package. That approach helps reduce inventory complexity for shops and supports faster rear brake replacement on Saturn SC, SL, and SW models. This part number, SK637, is also a useful reference when ordering by catalog or cross-checking rear drum brake service parts for the same Saturn fitment.

This part cross-references Monroe Shocks & Struts (e.g., 172286, 182286) for the same application.

What It Helps Address

• Rear brake shoe wear on Saturn drum brake systems
• Uneven or reduced rear braking performance
• Noise from worn drum brake components
• Time lost matching separate brake service parts
• Inventory complexity for Saturn rear brake repairs

Installation Notes and Tips

Verify rear drum size before ordering: this kit is for Saturn applications with 7.87" x 1.24" brakes. Confirm the vehicle year, model, and rear brake configuration against the fitment list before installation. Inspect the drum surface, wheel cylinders, and related brake hardware during service so the rear brake system can be evaluated as a complete assembly.

For Saturn SC1, SC2, SL, SL1, SL2, SW1, and SW2 rear brake service, follow factory brake procedures and torque specifications. Proper cleaning of the backing plate and careful adjustment after installation help support consistent pedal feel and brake shoe contact.
