Product Details

The Cardone Windshield Wiper Motor line was built around remanufactured wiper motors from the start, and the 40-178 continues that focus with OE-based engineering and testing. This part cross-references GM 22110871 for the same application. It is a front wiper motor for many 1987-2002 Cadillac, Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac models, including Fits 1987-1999 Buick LeSabre, front; Fits 1987-1999 Cadillac DeVille, front; and Fits 1988-1999 Pontiac Bonneville, front. The package includes the wiper motor and instruction sheet. Washer pump included: no.

Common Problems This Part Can Address

• Front wipers that stop working or move intermittently
• Wiper arms that park in the wrong position
• Slow or inconsistent wiper speed
• Motor noise caused by worn internal components
• Electrical failure from worn bearings, solder joints, or magnets

Installation Notes and Tips

Confirm the vehicle uses the correct front wiper motor configuration before ordering. Some applications note washer pump compatibility exclusions, and 1987 models use a 3-terminal wiper motor without washer pump. If the wipers do not park correctly after installation, the crank arm position on the motor shaft may need to be adjusted. For moisture-sensitive systems, verify the rain sensor and control module operation before replacing the motor. If the washer pump is defective on certain vehicles, the wiper motor may not operate until that issue is corrected.

Quality Assurance

Each Cardone 40-178 remanufactured wiper motor is built to OE performance targets and tested for function before release. The remanufacturing process is designed to restore reliable operation while reducing waste through reuse of serviceable core components.
