Detailed Description

Brakes work as a system, and the self-adjuster is part of that system’s ability to keep rear drum brakes properly set. Carlson H2588 is intended for service on vehicles where the rear left drum brake adjuster hardware needs repair or replacement. If you are searching for a rear drum brake self-adjuster repair kit for Chevrolet Express 2500, GMC Savana 3500, or Dodge Ram 3500, this part number is one to verify against the exact brake size and model notes shown in the fitment data.

This part cross-references common brake hardware applications such as 451 and 452-style listings for the same rear drum brake service use.

What It Helps Fix

• Rear drum brakes that do not self-adjust correctly
• Excessive pedal travel caused by out-of-adjustment rear shoes

• Noisy or inconsistent drum brake operation tied to adjuster wear
• Brake service issues on 13-inch rear drum brake assemblies

Installation Notes and Tips

• Confirm the vehicle year, make, model, and rear left position before ordering.
• Match the drum size and shoe width exactly to the fitment notes, especially 13 x 2.5-inch and 13 x 3.5-inch applications.
• Inspect the full rear drum brake hardware during service, including shoes, drums, and related adjuster components.
• Clean the brake assembly thoroughly before reassembly to help ensure proper adjuster movement.
• Follow the vehicle service manual for brake adjustment and final inspection procedures.
