Detailed Product Overview

Dorman C660100 is engineered and tested to match the original parking brake cable on specific vehicles, making it a practical replacement when the factory cable is stretched, seized, or damaged. It is listed for 1996-1999 Volkswagen Cabrio rear left and rear right, 1996-1999 Volkswagen Golf rear left and rear right, and 1996-1998 Volkswagen Jetta rear left and rear right. Common Problems This Cable Can Address

  • Parking brake lever travel that feels excessive
  • Rear parking brake not holding the vehicle securely
  • Sticking or seized cable movement from corrosion
  • Frayed or damaged original brake cable
  • Uneven parking brake engagement at the rear wheels

Installation Notes and Tips

Verify the rear left or rear right position before ordering, and confirm the VIN break point for 1995 Volkswagen Cabrio, Golf, and Jetta models. Compare the original cable length and routing path to the replacement before installation. Mounting hardware is not included, so reuse or source any required hardware separately if needed. After installation, check parking brake adjustment and confirm smooth cable movement through the full range of operation.
