Detailed Product Overview

Dorman C660103 is a parking brake cable designed for rear left and rear right positions on select 1998-2001 Volkswagen vehicles. It is built to match original cable dimensions and routing requirements, including a 66.34 in cable length and 41.54 conduit length, for proper parking brake engagement and release. This part cross-references Dorman - HELP 31015 for the same application.

Compatible With 1998-2000 Volkswagen Beetle, rear left and rear right; 1999-2000 Volkswagen Golf, rear left and rear right; and 1999-2001 Volkswagen Jetta, rear left and rear right, with VIN-specific notes where listed. The C660103 parking brake cable is a practical OE-style replacement for Volkswagen Beetle, Golf, and Jetta brake service when the original cable is worn, stretched, or corroded.

What This Part Helps Address

  • Parking brake that does not hold the vehicle securely
  • Sticking or slow-return parking brake cable movement
  • Corrosion damage to the original cable jacket or conduit
  • Uneven parking brake engagement at the rear wheels
  • Brake service needs on Volkswagen Beetle, Golf, and Jetta models

Installation Notes and Tips

Verify the rear left or rear right position and confirm VIN breakpoints before ordering, especially on 1999-2001 Volkswagen Jetta and 1999-2000 Volkswagen Golf applications. Compare the original cable length and routing path to the replacement part before installation. Mounting hardware is not included, so reuse or replace related hardware as needed during brake service.

Quality Assurance

Dorman tests this parking brake cable to match original fit, function, and performance on the listed vehicles. The corrosion-resistant materials and durable construction are intended to support long service life in normal brake system use.
