Gabriel 49235 Suspension Shock Absorber - Rear

Overview

Gabriel HiJackers 49235 is an air-adjustable suspension shock absorber for rear applications that need temporary load support and leveling control. It is a fitment-based replacement for select Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Dodge Ram truck and SUV applications, including models with specific suspension exclusions noted below.

Key Features

• Air-adjustable design for temporary towing and short-term heavy loads.
• Provides leveling capacity up to 1,100 lbs. per pair.
• Helps improve handling and reduce bottoming-out under load.
• Super-finished chromed piston rod for corrosion resistance.
• Leak-proof piston seal helps extend service life.
• Eyelet upper and lower mounting style.

Detailed Description

Gabriel HiJackers 49235 is built for rear suspension use on a wide range of trucks and SUVs where added support is needed without changing the vehicle’s payload rating. This suspension shock absorber is commonly selected for Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and Dodge Ram applications, with fitment also covering related Silverado, Sierra, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, Avalanche, Escalade, and Ram variants listed in the fitment data. The HiJackers line focuses on air-adjustable control for load leveling, making it a practical choice when the vehicle is carrying temporary cargo or towing weight.

Part number 49235 uses eyelet mounting at both ends and measures 15.04 inches collapsed and 24.77 inches extended. Gabriel’s design includes a chromed piston rod and a sealed piston assembly to support corrosion resistance and long-term sealing performance. This part cross-references Monroe Shocks & Struts (e.g., 172286, 182286) for the same application.

What It Helps Address

• Rear sag under temporary towing loads.
• Bottoming-out when the vehicle is carrying extra weight.
• Reduced handling stability from uneven rear load distribution.
• Need for adjustable rear ride height support.
• Wear concerns from exposed suspension components in harsh conditions.

Installation Notes and Tips

Compatible With rear applications only. Review the fitment notes carefully, especially exclusions for Z55 Auto Ride Suspension and other listed configurations. Some applications note an air hose kit included in the fitment data, but installation hardware is not stated as included for this part. Verify collapsed and extended length, eyelet mounting, and vehicle suspension configuration before installation.

Quality Assurance

Gabriel HiJackers 49235 reflects Gabriel’s air-adjustable shock absorber design with corrosion-resistant piston rod treatment and a leak-resistant seal construction. Part number 49235 is intended for load-leveling support within the vehicle’s GVWR limits and does not increase payload capacity.
