This HVAC blower motor resistor is used to regulate blower fan speed by managing electrical current to the motor. On modern vehicles, the A/C control strategy is handled through the engine management system; on earlier vehicles, related electrical switching functions were used to shut the compressor off and reduce the risk of compressor damage.
