Detailed Description
This Sunsong power steering pressure line hose assembly is built for steering systems that require a direct replacement pressure hose with OE-style routing and connection points. It uses CSM hose material and measures 70 inches (1778 mm) in length, with a 16 mm female end and an 11/16-inch male inverted flare end. The assembly is intended for select Ford Mustang and Mercury Cougar models, including 1971-1972 Ford Mustang, to gear, and 1971 Mercury Cougar, to gear. The 3401792 hose is also cross-referenced to Dayco 70670 for the same application.
What It Helps Fix
- Power steering fluid leaks from a worn or damaged pressure hose
- Steering assist loss caused by hose cracking or line failure
- Noise or pressure issues related to restricted steering fluid flow
- Corrosion-related deterioration in the pressure line tubing
- Poor fitment from an incorrect replacement hose
Installation Notes and Tips
Verify end sizes, routing, and vehicle application before installation. This hose assembly does not include a bracket or power steering switch port. Confirm the steering connection points on your 1971-1972 Ford Mustang or 1971 Mercury Cougar match the listed fitment, including the to gear configuration where specified. Inspect related steering components and replace any worn seals or damaged lines during service.
Quality Assurance
Sunsong subjects each hose to high-pressure testing before it leaves the factory. The pressure hose construction is specified to exceed original equipment performance standards, with corrosion-resistant zinc-coated steel tubing for long service life in demanding driving conditions.
